Ábrete Sésamo was one of the first international dubs of Sesame Street, debuting on Spanish national television in 1974.
The show featured a mixture of Muppet segments, cartoons, and street scenes, but no original material. It was one of many international Open Sesame shows.
The Spanish names given to Muppet characters included Blas (Bert), Pajaro Grande (Big Bird), Epi (Ernie), Triki (Cookie Monster), Conde Draco (Count von Count), Coco (Grover), Gustavo (Kermit) and Don Timoteo (The Salesman).
The show was replaced in 1979 with a Spanish co-production, Barrio Sésamo.
Merchandise included a soundtrack album and a line of puppets and finger puppets.
