The "1812 Overture," a symphonic piece composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky to commemorate Russia's victory over the Napoleonic army, is most famous for the sequence of cannon fire integrated into the music. It has been featured in several Muppet productions.


The Muppet Show

  • performed by Gonzo on the violin in episode 102. Gonzo's claim that he will grow his tomato plant to the tune of the "1812 Overture" proves to be true. The plant grows so large, in fact, that it picks up Gonzo, Hilda, and Scooter.

The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years

  • featured over a montage of classic clips featuring Muppets eating and exploding.

Grover's Overtures

  • featured in the 1991 book and tape set, with Grover playing the cannon and Elmo on cymbals.
