Variations of the song's title were a running gag throughout the episode. During the cold opening, Paul Simon says that he knows "Fifty Ways to Love Your Lever," Rowlf asked Floyd and Janice during the song if it's actually "Fifty Ways to Love Your Lever," and in Veterinarians Hospital, Dr. Bob said that he'd operate by mentioning a Paul Simon song... "Fifty Ways to Lose Your Liver."
