Rowlf first appears during the opening number, "El Rancho Grande," twirling a fake lasso.
Rowlf the Dog's nephew, a pup named Nephew, comes for a visit. According to Rowlf, Nephew is a "goofy lookin' kid," despite the obvious family resemblance. When Jimmy Dean questioned why his name is Nephew, Rowlf replied, "What am I gonna call him, 'Niece'?". He recites a poem for Jimmy, but he repeatedly forgets his name, calling him Jimmy Durante, Jimmy Stewart, Dizzy Gillespie, among others.
They sing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" with Jimmy. During the end credits, Rowlf alone is joined at his fence by Molly Bee for some personal time.
Notes[]
This is one of the rare times a second Muppet character appeared in a sketch. Nephew was performed by Jerry Juhl
