"ABC Disco" is a Sesame Street song featuring Grover at the Monster Disco.
Grover, wearing a white suit a la John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, hits the dance floor while his female back-up singers recite their ABCs. When Grover starts to get tired, several monsters, including Maurice, Harvey and Stuie, insist that he keep dancing until he finally drops to the lighted floor.
Notes[]
- Performers in this sketch include Frank Oz (as Grover), Kathryn Mullen (dark green monster), Richard Hunt (Stuie and Harvey), Jerry Nelson (Maurice and Fat Blue waiter), Bob Payne, and Jim Henson.[1]
- While legally registered as "ABC Disco,"[2] the segment is referred to as "Grover Travolta" in scripts.[3] This title is reflected onscreen in its use in the Shalom Sesame episode "Kids Sing Israel." The ASCAP Registry entry for the song additionally lists "Grover Travolta Alphabet Song" as an alternate title.[2]
