The Count's Halloween Spooktacular is an annual event held at Sesame Place during the month of October. The Halloween themed event was started in 1997 (originally titled "Halloween Fest"). The regular season for Sesame Place runs from late May to early September; the Count's Halloween Spooktacular runs on Saturdays and Sundays from late September through October. After the Halloween event, the park runs a Christmas-themed event, "A Very Furry Christmas", from mid-November until New Year's Day.

Guests are invited to visit the park dressed in costume, where there are trick-or-treating stops throughout the park for children (with treats donated by Tastykakes, Ring Pops, Peanut Chews, Herr’s potato chips, cowtales, and smarties). The festival offers some special attractions, including a "spooky" walk through Count's castle, exploration of "Abby Cadabby's Magical Halloween Maze", and a ride on the "Not So-Spooky Hayride" hosted by Bert, Ernie, a honker, and a dinger. The event features an annual costume contest and other special day events (such as "The Count's Batty Birthday Bash" and "Abby Cadabby's Fairy Pumpkin Party").

Many of the water attractions are closed and other parts have been reworked with a Halloween-theme, such as the tropical "Sesame Island" becoming "Halloween Hideaway". The Sesame Street Party Parade transforms into a Halloween parade that features floats and music for the season.

The park also features special Halloween stage shows including: "The Not-Too-Spooky Howl-O-Ween Radio Show," "Who Said Boo?!" and "Elmo the Musical Live: Halloween". Previous Halloween shows included "Countdown to Halloween" and "Elmo's World Live: Halloween."
