"Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life," from the operetta Naughty Marietta, was perhaps most famously performed by Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy in the 1935 film of the same name.
Cloris Leachman, Link Hogthrob, and a chorus of pigs sing "Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life" as part of an operetta medley in episode 224 of The Muppet Show.
Wayne and Wanda also performed the song in episode 406.
References[]
- Big Bird sings a bit of the song when he tries to be a songbird for Luis in Episode 0429 of Sesame Street. He references it again in Episode 0463 when he takes it as a wrong guess when he asks what tune he is playing on his bass drum.
- A squirrel later hums it to herself in Episode 3193.
Notes[]
- Cloris Leachman had previously performed the song briefly in a scene that was deleted from Mel Brooks' film Young Frankenstein.
