Alex Ross (b. 1970) is a comic book artist known for his painted illustrations of superhero characters, primarily for DC Comics and Marvel Comics. His technique is notable for basing his subjects on real life models and photographs.
Some of his most well-known works are DC's Kingdom Come in 1996, Marvel's 1994 mini-series Marvels, Spider-Man: Noir, and a series of tabloid-sized comics by Paul Dini — Superman: Peace on Earth, Batman: War on Crime, Shazam! Power of Hope, and Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth.
His other works include Fantastic Four: Full Circle, Disney comics such as Uncle Scrooge, some Star Trek paintings, a number of covers for Star Wars comic books, and several Dynamite Comics titles including The Green Hornet, Red Sonja, Tarzan, Vampirella, The Shadow, and The Lone Ranger.
In 2005, Ross created a painting of Super Grover to accompany Palisades Toys' release of their Super Grover Action Figure. A penciled version was gifted to Palisades designer Ken Lilly.
Ross later produced a painting of The Muppets released in 2024 as a print branded a Disney Fine Art collectible.
