"All Together Now" is a skiffle-styled popular tune written and performed by The Beatles for the soundtrack album for their 1968 film Yellow Submarine. The song was originally recorded and mixed in 1967 in less than nine hours and with only six takes.
The song was featured during the first season of Sesame Street in 1969 and was the final track in the 1994 Muppet album Kermit Unpigged.
Sesame Street[]
It was performed by Anything Muppets in an insert seen several times during the first season of Sesame Street. Only the first two verses of the song ("1-2-3-4" and "A-B-C-D") were included. The insert begins with the parents attempting to sing "We Belong Together," while the daughter interrupts with "All Together Now."
Kermit Unpigged[]
"All Together Now" was sung by the Muppets as the finale for the Kermit Unpigged album when Kermit the Frog finally manages to get his friends together to sing a song. Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Robin, Clifford, Rizzo, Bunsen, Beaker, Floyd Pepper, and Animal performed the vocals. In this version, Robin sings the line "Do I have to go to bed?" in place of "Can I take my friend to bed?"
With the help of Harry Smith on the tuba, the Muppets also performed the song live on CBS This Morning in 1994 to promote the release of Kermit Unpigged.
