Kermit-ComedyAwards

The American Comedy Awards was instituted in 1987 and telecast on ABC, Fox and Comedy Central until 2001. NBC aired the last ceremony in 2014.

Kermit the Frog appeared in the 1989 ceremony, reading the nominations for "Funniest Male Performer in a TV Series (Leading Role)" with Louie Anderson. Kermit takes offense to the fact that only humans are nominated and lists some non-human candidates: Mickey Mouse, Roger Rabbit, and ALF.

Frank Oz received the Creative Achievement Award at the 1998 ceremony. John Cleese appeared to give a speech about Oz (printed on a tiny slip of paper), present his award, and narrated a package detailing Oz's life and career. The video features behind the scenes excerpts from The Muppet Show (as recorded for 60 Minutes), along with brief clips from Sesame Street, The Great Muppet Caper, and his films and his onscreen appearances. Brian Henson is glimpsed in crowd shots at Oz's table.
