Anne of Green Gables is a 1908 novel written by Lucy Maud Montgomery about the life of a young orphan girl Anne Shirley. The book has been adapted many times, particularly a 1980s Canadian miniseries and its sequels (and spinoff Avonlea) as well as later versions for Netflix and Masterpiece Theatre.
