"As Time Goes By" is a song originally written by Herman Hupfeld for the musical comedy Everybody's Welcome. It became much more popular following its integral role in the 1942 film Casablanca.
Rowlf the Dog plays a portion of the song on piano at Rowlf's Tavern in The Muppets episode, "Little Green Lie."
A recording of the song by The Buffalo Bills had previously been utilized on Sam and Friends for the December 13, 1960 broadcast. The tune is repeatedly disrupted by persistent sound effects from the episode's earlier performance of "Cocktails for Two" (the Spike Jones version).[1]
