Astro Boy, known in Japan as Mighty Atom, is a Japanese superhero first introduced in a 1952 manga of the same name. The manga ran until 1968 and was adapted into several television series, films, comics, and video games.
In 1999, Jim Henson Pictures optioned the property for a film, but it was never made.[1]

- In the Farscape episode "...Different Destinations," when Stark tells John Crichton that the jacket he's wearing was a gift from Zhaan, Crichton tells him, "And you look great. You look like Astro Boy."
- Following this remark, "Astro" becomes one of Crichton's recurring nicknames for Stark.
