Baby Bunsen in a Disney Junior Music video.

Baby Bunsen appeared semi-regularly throughout the run of Muppet Babies as a baby version of Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (and appeared in the opening to every episode). He was accompanied by Baby Beaker to present his latest invention to the other babies, or just to play.

On the original show, the character's head is egg-shaped and sprouts a single, curly hair on top. He exclusively wears a nightgown, red scarf, and bunny slippers. He wears large rectangular, but rounded glasses, that ever so slightly bend up or down from the bridge in order to mimic eye brow movement and indicate his emotions.

Muppet Babies reboot[]

For the 2018 reboot series Muppet Babies, Baby Bunsen has been redesigned. The CGI-nature of the show allows for a more puppet-like look by texturing the characters' skin by imitating their respective fabric structures. The redesign provides him with a rounder bald head, reminiscent of his adult self.

His original costume is replaced by an off-white lab coat over a dress shirt and vest, tie, and sneakers. His glasses are now fully circular. And while they are more static in the reboot, the animators regularly position his glasses' shadow line on his face to mimic closed eyes in different strategic ways to display his emotions.

Bunsen now creates and tests his inventions at the show's version of Muppet Labs, often imagined in the Playroom's kitchen play set, with Beaker assisting.
