Backstage Pass was a walk-though attraction at the Disney-MGM Studios designed to demonstrate special effects in movie and television production.
The movies featured in the walking tour changed periodically, and when Disney was using the attraction to promote its live-action version of 101 Dalmatians, it included a stop in a re-creation of the Creature Shop. Here, guests were given a demonstration of the animatronic puppies that the Jim Henson Company had designed and built for the film.
In 1992 the area showcased props from The Muppet Christmas Carol, including the London building minitures used in the opening shots of the film, plus the puppets of Mr. Bitte, George the Janitor and J. P. Grosse in their attire from the film, the beggar, a female caroler, and the two pigs from Fred's party.
The attraction has since closed, but a large sign with the Creature Shop logo remained on the attraction's building until 2011.
