Bambi is a 1942 animated film produced by Walt Disney, based on the book by Felix Salten (who also wrote the book on which Disney's The Shaggy Dog was based). Perhaps the most famous moment in the film concerns the off-screen death of Bambi's mother.

- In the second season Dinosaurs episode "I Never Ate for My Father," a herbivore Folk Singer asks whether anyone's seen "my old friend, Bambi's mother/Can you tell me where she's gone?"
- On his talk show in Muppets Tonight episode 106, Johnny Fiama cites (as the number one reason in a top ten list of why chicks dig him) the fact that he still cries when Bambi's mother buys the farm.
- Darci mentions Bambi in her tirade on bears in "The Real World Muppets" segment in episode 212 of Muppets Tonight.
- In Elmo Saves Christmas, Oscar refers to the reindeer Lightning as "Bambi Face."

- Bambi's best friend Thumper appeared together with Kermit and Miss Piggy on a 2006 Hollywood Pictures Backlot picture frame, sold exclusively at Disney California Adventure.
- In a Twitter posting on June 16, 2010, Abby Cadabby wrote that she was, "Thinking of starting a write-in advice column with Bambi for the local newspaper. We'll call it "Deer/Abby"." [1]
