"Before and After" is an operatic Sesame Street tune lead by Gilbert and Sullivan in Episode 2725.
In the wee hours of the morning, Oscar the Grouch tells the viewer that he always feels the same grouchy way before his friendly neighbors are awake and after they get up. To him, there's no difference, which prompts an appearance by Gilbert and Sullivan. They sing an unwarranted song about the difference between before and after with visual assistance from Maria (washing her hands), Bob (eating a meal), and Gordon (combing his hair).
Oscar takes a verse, asking for some peace and quiet like before they began their silly song. The singers are able to reverse the entire musical number, returning Oscar to the twilight of the morning.
