Behind the Ears Preview was a short-form interstital series that aired on Disney Channel in the 1990s.

When Disney Channel began airing Muppets Tonight in 1997, Kermit the Frog, Gonzo, and Rizzo the Rat appeared in a number of Behind the Ears segments for Disney Channel, talking about the channel and about Muppets Tonight. The segments were written by Jim Lewis and Jim Janicek, and directed by Janicek.

Bear of Bear in the Big Blue House also hosted a Behind the Ears Preview from the Big Blue House wherein he showed viewers around the house and introduced his friends.

Individual segments

  • Rizzo the Rat dresses in a Mickey Mouse costume and promotes Muppets Tonight, of which he claims to be the star. Kermit the Frog corrects him, saying that he is on Muppets Tonight but is not the star. Rizzo then tries to convince Kermit that he is Mickey Mouse, but Kermit doesn't believe him. Gonzo, however, mistakes him for Mickey.
  • Gonzo and Rizzo promote the show that's on next (after Muppets Tonight on Sundays), Goin' Wild with Jeff Corwin. After hearing that the show is about animals, Rizzo asks if there will be any rats on the show, and Gonzo tells him that he'll just have to watch to find out.
  • Gonzo and Kermit promote Under Wraps.
