Big Bird greets the viewer from his nest and announces that he was just about to write a story. He begins, "Once upon a time, there was a frog who wanted to turn into a prince."
The scene transitions to a castle where the frog has approached a witch to help him make the transition. He explains that he was a prince a long time ago, but was turned into a frog by a wizard. He liked it for awhile because he got to go swimming along, but he's ready to return to royalty so that he can marry a princess.
The witch agrees, "It's my job," and takes the frog into her kitchen where she rummages though a cabinet full of potions. Struggling to find the prince potion, she goes through a series of elixirs that start with other P words, such as potato, penguin, and pig, but the frog doesn't want to be any of those things.
The witch casts a spell, and with a puff of smoke, the frog transforms into an aging prince. He's shocked by his reflection in the mirror, but the witch thinks he's cute and asks him to marry her. Struggling with his newly-developed hearing loss, the prince agrees. The witch: "I knew someday my prince would come."
Big Bird finishes writing the story with the marriage of the couple, who lived happily ever after.
