Big Bird tells Oscar to let him inside his trash can, but Oscar refuses. Big Bird snaps back with a grouchy attitude, which impresses Oscar so much he invites him in.
Big Bird and Oscar appear in four scenes together. In the first, taking place outside the skating rink, Oscar plants the idea that Santa Claus may not be able to fit through the chimney to deliver presents, which concerns Big Bird and Patty. Big Bird proposes a couple of ways Santa can come down the chimney to Oscar in two scenes during the "True Blue Miracle" number. Near the end of the special, Oscar enters Gordon and Susan's apartment to spring Big Bird a question about the Easter Bunny.
Early in the film, Big Bird crashes near Oscar's trash can area while rollerskating, prompting Oscar to laugh and say "Nice work turkey." Later, as Big Bird is about to leave Sesame Street, he says goodbye to Oscar. Touched, Oscar replies, "That's the nicest thing you've ever said to me."
Oscar reads his newspaper as Big Bird gathers everyone to announce Luis and Maria are getting married. As everyone cheers, Oscar ducks into his can in disgust.

The camera cuts from Oscar to Big Bird staring at him before cutting back.
Oscar appears as one of Big Bird's visitors during his stay at the hospital, commenting that the place is so clean, it makes him sick. Later, when Big Bird and Maria arrive on Sesame Street, Oscar is the first person to welcome them home, announcing "Hey, the turkey's back, and he looks disgustingly healthy." Big Bird responds "Hi Oscar."
Big Bird and Telly debate over whether Oscar is light green or dark green, so they try to get him to come up from his can and show his face. Oscar stays concealed and makes comments (in voice-over) to shoo them away. Big Bird, Telly, and Kaitlin pretend to leave the premises, and Oscar eventually comes up only to get spotted by them.

Caroll Spinney performs Big Bird in the cold open, and switches to performing Oscar for the rest of the Street plot. Big Bird (whose lines are prerecorded by Spinney, and puppeteered by Matt Vogel[1]) makes occasional comments to Snuffy as the WASA space shuttle prepares for liftoff.
In many scenes throughout the movie, Big Bird is puppeteered by Matt Vogel to a vocal track by Caroll Spinney while Spinney performs Oscar (who features more prominently).
Caroll Spinney performs Big Bird throughout the entire street story except in this scene where Oscar asks for a show-and-tell invitation, just to turn it down.

Although they aren't in the same shot together, Oscar appears with no audible dialogue while Big Bird comments on what's happening. The script credits Richard Hunt as performing Oscar in the scene, but it also originally staged the camera looking over the construction doors from Big Bird's perspective. The final scene as taped dropped this framing precluding the need for another performer.
A brief interaction where Oscar warns Big Bird of SuperWorm's fear of birds is accomplished with their shots being taped separately, as indicated by the script, and edited together.
