Bing Crosby (1903-1977) was a singer, actor, and radio star whose mellow tones made him a best-selling recording artist. His signature songs and best known recordings included "Where the Blue of the Night (Meets the Gold of the Day)," "White Christmas," "Swinging on a Star," and "Pennies from Heaven." As a screen actor, he appeared in musicals and was teamed with Bob Hope in the Road pictures. He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Going My Way. He starred on his own half-hour radio series, under various names, consistently from 1933 until 1954.

Crosby performed the Sesame Street song "Sing" on two occasions: with Fred Astaire on their duet album A Couple Of Song & Dance Men, and with Vera Lynn in a 1975 appearance on The Vera Lynn Show.
