DEBUT | 2022 |
Blerph is a Muppet character created for the 2018 Muppet Babies series.
He appears only once in "The Muppet Babies Show," the final episode of the series. Blerph can be seen during the opening number of the show that the babies put on for their friends to celebrate the beginning of summer break. He's positioned in the lower-right portion of the arches to the right of the Wacky Alpaca Pals, singing and dancing along to the "Muppet Babies Show" version of "The Muppet Show Theme."
Following the episode's broadcast, series supervising director Matt Danner teased the character in an interview with ToughPigs.com, noting that he served as the studio mascot and was used in the episode as an easter egg for the crew.[1]
He was later identified by Danner on Twitter as Blerph, who received his name from co-producer and art director Chris Moreno.[2] His follow-up Twitter thread told the rest of Blerph's story including his origins as an unfinished render of Baby Animal featuring a number of art pieces and memes created by the production team.[3]
