Welcome to Muppet Wiki!
I've seen some confusion recently about this in a few different spots on the internet, so I thought I'd take a second to address it.
Muppet Wiki is a wiki. There's no such thing as a wikia. Wikia (capital W) is a company formerly known as WikiCities (and currently transitioning into Fandom) that hosts a series of wikis. The Oxford Dictionary defines a wiki as "A website or database developed collaboratively by a community of users, allowing any user to add and edit content."
The name of this collaborative community has always been Muppet Wiki through all versions of the host site's name. We've never been named anything else and the format has never been anything other than a wiki. A "wikia" is partly a misnomer, and partly a term the company named Wikia tried to force into being a thing. It would be like Facebook calling all forms of microblogging a "facebook".
If you see folks on message boards and social media referring to us incorrectly, feel free to politely correct them. We were founded as Muppet Wiki in December 2005, and that has always been our name. When we get together to collaborate here, we are doing so on a platform called a wiki.
