Bob Gunton (b. 1945) is a stage and film character actor, perhaps best known for playing the cruel Warden Norton in The Shawshank Redemption alongside Tim Robbins. He played Chief Kirby in the Sesame Street direct-to-video release Sesame Street Home Video Visits the Firehouse.
On Broadway, Gunton originated the role of Juan Peron in the musical Evita, netting his first Tony Award nomination in 1980. Ten years later, he received another nomination, for the title role in a revival of Sweeney Todd.
In film, Gunton has appeared in Born on the Fourth of July, Glory (with Matthew Broderick and Morgan Freeman), JFK, Patriot Games, Patch Adams (with Robin Williams), and I Heart Huckabeees (with Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin).
Television roles include hard-nosed kiddie show host Junction Jack on Greg the Bunny, Noah Taylor on Desperate Housewives, General William Collins on Royal Pains and guest roles in Ally McBeal, Law & Order, and Miami Vice.
