Bonjour Sesame, also known as Sésame, Sésame Ouvre-Toi or Rue Sésame, was the French-language dub of Sesame Street, produced for the Canadian market. In contrast to the occasional bilingual elements of the later Sesame Street Canada, this version was a fully dubbed package, translated into Québécois rather than the more formal French used in France.
It was one of several "Open Sesame" packages, translations targeted for nations as an alternative to full-coproduction, along with the French Bonjour Sesame and Sesamo Apriti, among others.
The series debuted over Radio-Canada on September 6, 1975, and aired on Saturday mornings until ending on May 15, 1976. It was seen on a regular basis only on Radio-Canada-owned stations in Montreal, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City and Moncton and on privately-owned affiliates in Quebec, as Radio-Canada had not yet become available across Canada with its own stations.
