DEBUT | 1970 |
Boppity, a blue Frackle, was one of Cosmo Scam's henchmen in The Great Santa Claus Switch.
The puppet used for Boppity would be reused in later productions as a generic utility monster. The puppet, known as the Blue Frackle, would change performer, attire, role, name and even gender depending on the production needs.
Boppity is one of several characters featured on a poster advertising performers for The Muppet Show Backstage Playset.
Boppity appears in the Muppets Meet the Classics: Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm anthology. He features in "Fozzie's Super-Sticky Situation", a retelling of "The Golden Goose", where he and his siblings Snivelly and Gloat take on the role of the innkeeper's thieving children.
Blue Frackle[]

Following Boppity's appearance in The Great Santa Claus Switch, the character would go on to make many appearances in subsequent Muppet productions, beginning with The Muppet Show.
He was given white eyes for The Muppet Show, lost his tail, and gained a trimmer body shape. He was completely rebuilt for episode 119 (changes include a better eye focus, a two-toned face, and an adjusted ear shape). In 1986, the original puppet was used in The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years refurbished with new eyes - for this appearance they were suggested to be female, as the puppet wore a gold choker and a silver hair ribbon.
The puppet was later rebuilt in the late '90s by the time he appeared on Mopatop's Shop. In The Muppets Character Encyclopedia, he's listed as "Bolshy blue Frackle."
