The Boss and Homer were Muppet spokesmen specially created for a Tastee-Freez ad campaign in 1967. Demonstrating the tastiness of Tastee-Freez ice cream, the spots featured the Boss preparing their sundaes which would be downed whole by his voracious assistant, Homer. Both were dressed as ice cream vendors with their names printed on their aprons.
The puppet used for the Boss was previously used as Mert, with different features and costume.
