PERFORMER | David Rudman |
DEBUT | 1992 |
Bowser is the hulking, slow-witted assistant handyman to Bruno on Dog City. He was first mentioned but unseen in the first season episode "The Dog Pound," where Bruno says he's his new assistant (and fires him at the end).
Bowser made his on-camera debut in "Ya Gotta Have Hart" and returned in "Rocketship K-9." He became a regular in the next two seasons, helping or often hindering his boss. In Eliot Shag's cartoon series, Bowser's counterpart is Bruiser, equally slow-witted nephew/henchman to Bugsy Vile. Bowser's species appears to be a St. Bernard.
Bowser's puppet is essentially the same as that used for Mad Dog on the original Dog City pilot of The Jim Henson Hour, and in his first two appearances wore the same outfit.
