Ernie wakes a sleeping Bert in the middle of the night to tell him how wonderful breakfast is and to sing "Breakfast Is the Best Meal of the Day", accompanied by a banana, eggs on toast, and a bowl of oatmeal. By the end of the song, Bert realizes he is hungry, but Ernie has gone back to bed. Ernie says it is the middle of the night and they can't actually eat breakfast right then. When a frustrated Bert returns to his own bed, the food has gone to sleep on his pillow.
