Brian Trueman on Screen Test

Brian Trueman (1932-2024) was a British writer and voice actor who wrote the UK scripts for the later seasons of Fraggle Rock.[1]

Trueman was best known for his work as a writer for British animation studio Cosgrove-Hall beginning with the 1976 series Chorlton and the Wheelies. He became one of their main writers and also provided character voices on Danger Mouse (Stiletto), Count Duckula (Nanny), The Wind in the Willows (Henchman Weasel), Victor and Hugo (Victor), and Truckers (Dorcas), among other series and specials.

Early in his career, Trueman acted on BBC radio beginning in the 1950s on Children's Hour and was a regular on the sitcom The Clitheroe Kid as Harry Whittle and others. From 1957 to the 1970s, he was a frequent newscaster and host for Granada Television. He was heard as a radio announcer on a 1960s episode of Coronation Street. For BBC television, he hosted the children's quiz Screen Test (1976-1983). Some of his later writing credits included episodes of Thomas & Friends and the Netflix revival of Danger Mouse.
