Bruce Kirby in The Muppet Movie
Bruce Kirby (1928-2021) was a television and film character actor, and the father of actor Bruno Kirby. He appeared as the World Wide Studios gate guard at the beginning of The Muppet Movie.
Kirby's career spanned five decades and included a regular stint on Car 54, Where Are You (as filing clerk Officer Kissel) and the recurring role of Sgt. Kramer in multiple Columbo installments. He made appearances on Bonanza, The Patty Duke Show, Barney Miller, M*A*S*H, Murphy Brown, The West Wing, The Sopranos, and Scrubs. Film credits include Catch-22, How to Frame a Figg (with Don Knotts), Throw Momma from the Train (with Billy Crystal and Danny DeVito), Stand By Me, and the Academy Award-winning film Crash (as Matt Dillon's father).
