Bud appears in a Sesame Street sketch, "True Mud" (a parody of True Blood). He is a caricature of the True Blood character Sheriff Bud Dearborne, played by actor William Sanderson.
A mysterious man arrives at a restaurant asking for "true mud." After getting things that rhyme with "mud" instead, Bud appears, thinking he's been called. Bud tells the man he doesn't have mud, but has a broken watch (a "true dud"). Along with the other customers, Bud believes the stranger is a Grouch because of his odd request.
