Captain Vegetable is a super hero from Sesame Street who encourages kids to eat vegetables. He looks like a rabbit with a cape and always carries a carrot and a celery. His home base is a secret garden somewhere in New Jersey.
His 1982 debut appearance on Sesame Street was in the popular song "Captain Vegetable". He popped up a few times later on throughout Season 15.
Captain Vegetable is made of two different Anything Muppets: the Lavender (for Jim Henson's portrayal) and the Large Lavender Live Hand (for Richard Hunt's portrayal).
In Season 33 (2002), actor and comedian John Leguizamo wore a superhero costume to play Captain Vegetable in Episode 4013.
