Cary Grant (1904-1986), birth name Archie Leach, was an English-born actor who became one of the leading Hollywood stars and romantic idols from the 1930s until his retirement in the 1960s. His films ranged from screwball comedies (Bringing Up Baby, His Girl Friday) to Hitchcock films (Notorious, To Catch a Thief, and most famously North by Northwest).

- In episode 204 of The Muppet Show, Rich Little is asked by Mildred Huxtetter to explain how he works up an impression... and to do it as Cary Grant (which he does). When chided by the Newsman, Mildred says "But I just love Cary Grant."
- In the 1982 special The Fantastic Miss Piggy Show, Miss Piggy asks George Hamilton to play a love scene as Cary Grant would. Hamilton obliges, imitating Grant's famous speech patterns.
- The 1985 film Follow That Bird includes a scene in which Big Bird spoofs Grant's famous plane chase scene from Hitchcock's North by Northwest.
- Grant's dialogue exchange with Shirley Temple in The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer (1947) was lifted almost verbatim for the scene in Labyrinth in which Jareth converses with one of his goblins. The most notable alterations are the substitution of "babe" for "man" and "voodoo" for "hoodoo."

- The final Muppet Babies episode, "Eight Flags Over the Nursery," features a movie ride in which the Babies briefly pass by clips of various movie stars. Cary Grant shows up and says "Piggy, Piggy, Piggy!" (This refers to the popular but inaccurate legend that "Judy, Judy, Judy!" was one of Grant's trademark phrases.)
