The 1989 Muppet Babies Castle Playset

Castles are imposing fortified edifices which originated in Europe during medieval times. Protected by walls and other defences, they were primarily the residences of royalty, nobility, or feudal lords. While some castles have remained as the historic homes of modern day sovereigns or been passed on as ancestral homes, most have become historical landmarks, museums, or tourist attractions.

In fairy tales, particularly of the Muppet variety, castles are inevitably the homes of blustery kings, princesses (often nasal voiced), vain princes, and usually more sedate queens, among other medieval types. In horror spoofs, they sometimes house vampires and mad scientists. The most frequently seen castle in the Muppet world is the home of The Count, which has figured heavily in books, merchandise, and themed attractions as well.

Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany and the Tower of London have both been utilized as locations in Muppet productions.
