remote controlled Muppets[]

Do we not yet have an article for animatronic/radio-controlled Muppets? There are at least two scenes in The Muppets that use them: when Mary looks out her classroom window at Walter, and when Walter, Kermit and Fozzie sit on Gonzo's toilets. There's also Kermit sitting on the fire engine ladder at the end of MuppetVision 3D and the obvious examples like pretty much any bicycle scene. Anyway, what should we call such a page? Or is it already being covered somewhere and I've overlooked it? โ€”Scott (message me) 04:48, November 29, 2011 (UTC)

Reorganization[]

We've been talking about this category on Category talk:Puppetry, and now I'm moving that conversation here.

This category has a lot of fantastic articles on it, but it's kind of a mess organizationally.

There's a bunch of articles about kinds of Muppets, and puppetry techniques, like Full-Bodied Muppet and Bunraku. There are also some lists, like Female Muppets Performed by Men and Projects with Muppet Connections. There's articles about Muppeteers -- Muppeteer Birthdays and Muppeteers in Non-Henson Acting Roles. There's three lists of Goofs. There's some that are cross-posted in in Production Locations, like The Muppet Workshop.

I think Bicycles probably demonstrates the confusion of this category. It's a terrific article, but it belongs in Muppet Vehicles, where it's currently cross-posted. I think it was added to this category because it includes a lot of information about how the effect was done -- but so does Fozzie's Studebaker, and that's not cross-posted here. If we included all the articles with significant behind-the-scenes content in this category, then we'd also have Rowlf the Dog, or Don Sahlin.

My initial suggestion is that we take everything out of Behind-the-Scenes that could be categorized somewhere else, just to clear the floor a little. Take out all the Production Locations, Character Lists, Vehicles, etc., and then we can see what we're left with. -- Danny (talk) 22:42, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

Well, I just created a Connections category, to house the four pure connections lists we have so far. That still leaves a lot of lists here, and other flotsam. Should we start trying to see how to breakdown the rest? Goofs, Lists, Muppet Terminology (The Muppets, various puppet categorizations, etc.), and so on? -- Andrew Leal (talk) 22:15, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
Does the new category resolve this question, or are we still discussing items for removal? โ€”Scott (talk) 22:12, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Anything Muppets?[]

I was browsing around the uncategorized pages, and realized that all of the many Anything Muppet pages, i.e. Pointy-headed Green or Tall Orange, are currently floating around. They don't belong in characters as they're patterns, not the characters themselves (Fat Blue being an exception just because the term is used so often to refer to Mr. Johnson). So, obviously, this would be the perfect place for them. The question is, do we just dump 'em all in, or make a subcategory? Personally, I'm in favor of just putting them all here, rather than messing with an Anything Muppet Patterns category which would logically be a subcategory of this one. Thoughts? --Andrew, Aleal 22:39, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

I think you've gotta do a subcat. Behind the Scenes is a classy category, we don't want to mess it up with a bunch of articles called Lavender Live Hands and so on. -- Danny Toughpigs 22:44, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Good point. But I don't really feel like messing with a subcat right now, so I guess they stay in limbo (I think I've been making some goofs when trying to recat some of those floating articles, in fact, but I'll discuss that on your talk page later on) --Andrew, Aleal 01:03, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
An Anything Muppet Patterns category can be created anytime and you can always decide what category to make it a sub-category of later. -- Scott Scarecroe 16:19, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Done. -- Danny Toughpigs 16:26, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
