Celebration! A Sesame Street Special was the proposed name for a group of four, hour-long variety specials to air on ABC during the 1974-75 television season.

Each special would center on a different theme - the energy crisis, leisure time, television, and music. Each topic would be seen through the lens of various forms of comedy, animation and the Muppet segments, with no direct effort to be educational.

The four specials would also be headlined by a celebrity guest. Bill Cosby, Carol Burnett, Flip Wilson and Dick Van Dyke were brought up as potential stars. The specials also would feature guest appearances from other celebrities, including the cast of The Electric Company.

Proposal documents say the shows would be written by the writers of Sesame Street and The Electric Company, while also suggesting that outside writers would be recruited. Joe Raposo is given direction mention to be involved in the musical aspects.

While these specials never came to fruition, a variety special starring the Muppets of Sesame Street and cast of The Electric Company aired on ABC in 1974.
