"Census in the Schools" staff thank Count von Count for attending.

Count von Count visited students at Washington DC's Bruce-Monroe Elementary School on Thursday, February 24, 2000 as part of the Census in the Schools program.

The Count was accompanied by White House Chief of Staff John Podesta, Secretary of Commerce William M. Daley, District of Columbia Delegate Eleanor Holme Norton and District of Columbia Mayor Anthony Williams.

During his visit, the Count talked about the importance of the census and the data it provides, plus he expressed how it ties into his love for counting things.

The "Census in the Schools" project was one of the many promotional efforts of the Census 2000 Publicity Office. The initiative helped educate students on the importance of the Census while teaching the counting, data collection and analysis issues that surround it.
