
Charles Aznavour (1924-2018) was a French singer, songwriter and actor. He was the guest star on The Muppet Show episode 109.
He was born in Paris, France to Armenian parents, who introduced him to the theatre at an early age. He sang and recorded songs in 6 languages. His recording of "She" was a #1 hit in the UK during 1974.
Two of the many songs written or co-written by Aznavour were performed on The Muppet Show. In episode 109, he sang "The Old Fashioned Way" with Mildred Huxtetter. "Yesterday When I Was Young" ("Hier Encore" in French) was performed on episode 303.
Aznavour's credits as an actor, in addition to various French films, include a starring role in Ararat (with Bruce Greenwood and Elias Koteas), one of the victims in the 1974 And Then There Were None, and in one of his last roles, dubbing Carl Fredricksen in the French dub of Up.
