Charles III (b. 1948), full name Charles Philip Arthur George, is the King of the United Kingdom and fourteen other Commonwealth realms. He was the oldest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and prior to his accession in 2022 was the longest-serving Prince of Wales. In 1981, he married Lady Diana Spencer with whom he had two sons; in 1996 the couple divorced. In 2005, Charles was remarried to his now-queen consort, Camilla Parker Bowles.
After the 1977 Royal Variety Performance, Charles was hugged by Muppet monster Mean Mama. That year, David Lazer invited Charles "or his representative" to the ATV Studios to watch a taping, and consider appearing as a guest on the program, saying he understood "if his schedule —or protocol —prevents him." Charles would have received full script approval.[1] Kermit himself also pitched an appearance.[2]
In 1986, he and Diana attended the royal premiere of Labyrinth.
Kermit the Frog appeared in a 2009 promotional video for the Prince's Rainforests Project, a 2009 online campaign that advocates for an end to rainforest destruction and conservation work in the area.
To celebrate the then-prince's 50th birthday, Miss Piggy appeared on stage at The Prince's Trust Comedy Gala while Kermit sent his well wishes via pre-recorded video.
In 2023, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy appeared at the Coronation Concert to celebrate Charles' coronation as King.

- His marriage to Princess Diana was spoofed in Muppet Magazine issue 2 (spring 1983) as "A Royal Romance: The Frog Prince and Lady Pi." Another parody photo was taken for inside the issue, spoofing the couple's 1981 engagement announcement, again with Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog assuming the rules of Diana and Charles.

- In episode 2485 of Sesame Street, The Amazing Mumford performs a magic trick to find Big Bird's necktie for Maria and Luis' wedding. His trick instead puts David in a tuxedo and Gina in a dress. He recalls previously performing the trick for a lovely couple named "Charles and Di."
