Charlton Heston (1924-2008) was an Academy Award-winning American film actor who starred in such films as the 1956 version of The Ten Commandments (as Moses), Ben-Hur (1959), and Planet of the Apes (1968). He also played Cardinal Richelieu in The Three Musketeers (1973) and The Four Musketeers (1974).
- In episode 105 of The Muppet Show, Statler compares Fozzie Bear to Charlton Heston, even though, as Fozzie points out, "Charlton Heston doesn't tell jokes."
- On the day Jim Henson, Frank Oz, Jerry Juhl and Don Sahlin created their now infamous Muppet Pipes at NBC, several people in the studio caught wind of what the men were doing in their dressing room. Jerry Juhl recalls, "At some point, late in the afternoon, there was a knock on the door and a voice outside said, 'Hello, I'm Charlton Heston. Could I see your closet?' Since practical jokes weren't unknown in our world, we yelled back, 'Yeah, sure, you're Charlton Heston.' And, of course, it was Charlton Heston."
