"Chattanooga Choo-Choo," the Academy Award-nominated song, was sung by a group of Whatnots on The Muppet Show in episode 210, until they were interrupted by an oncoming train.
It was also performed as the closing number by the Muppets and the Teppums on The Jim Henson Hour in episode 101.

- Maria hums some of the song in Episode 3008 as she, Gabi, Roxie Marie and Elmo first run Roxie Marie's model train set.
- An instrumental version of the song was used in "Elmo's World: Transportation" over a film of Elmo's friend Mark and his mother riding a train, and a Tickle Me Land scene on a train. For the DVD release, Elmo's World: Elmo Wonders, the film was cut and the "Tickle Me Land" music cut.
