"Chilly Down" is a song written for Labyrinth.
When Sarah encounters the Fireys in the forest, they sing this song to her while dismembering themselves, doing wild and crazy things. At the end of the song, when Sarah begins throwing the creatures heads around to escape, the Fireys make an attempt to remove her head. She is rescued by Hoggle.
The song is performed by the five Fireys, voiced by Kevin Clash, Danny John-Jules, Charles Augins and Richard Bodkin.
The film version of the song makes a number of cuts to the song, including an intro stanza and a brief rap by Firey 2 before he regains his head.
The song was originally titled "Wild Things", referring to the name for the Fireys that was used on-set. This was a reference to Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak, a copy of which can be seen in Sarah's bedroom. Sendak convinced Jim Henson to change the characters' name after viewing a rough cut of the film.[1] "Chilly Down" is also the only song in the film that David Bowie himself did not perform, although he recorded a demo of the "Wild Things" version. This demo was released in 2016 by Danny John-Jules shortly after Bowie's death. (YouTube)
