A china shop clerk appears in a Sesame Street sketch with Simon Soundman and Old MacDonald. Eager to assist the shop's patrons, the clerk patiently waits as Simon Soundman meets Old MacDonald, who is something of a celebrity to him.
As Old MacDonald explains that he's lost one of his animals, Simon Soundman makes the sound of each animal he guesses is missing, thereby calling each into the china shop. The clerk nervously runs around the shop trying to save the merchandise from destruction, but ultimately fails. He faints just as he's directing a pig to the second floor for gift-wrapping.
The clerk could also be seen as a frustrated would-be passenger of "The Elephant Elevator Operator."
