Self-portrait cartoon, from UNICEF for Beginners
Christian Clark (b. 1961)[1] is a writer and cartoonist who wrote for Sesame Street from 1987 to 1989. Clark won two Daytime Emmy Awards for his writing on the show.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Clark is an alumnus of McGill University, from which he attained a B.A. in Political Science. Previously a cartoonist for the New Internationalist and an Information Officer for UNICEF Somalia, Clark wrote and illustrated the 1996 book UNICEF for Beginners. Among his other projects include involvement in developing the animated character Meena, a South Asian girl who educates her region on issues of gender, discrimination, and health, and he was the head of UNICEF's Meena Communication Initiative in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Clark has also illustrated the 2017 graphic history UNtold: The Real Story of the United Nations in Peace and War (credited under the pseudonym "Krishna"), and founded the Graphix Project, a cartoon-based initiative that promotes change on social issues through the use of comics, animation, and other graphics-based media.
