Christian Rode (1936-2018) was a German voice actor who dubbed Bert on Sesamstrasse from 2001 to 2007 and in Die Abenteuer von Elmo im Grummelland (The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland). He dubbed Dr. Bates in Gulliver's Travels.
Rode frequently dubbed Paul Henreid, including in Casablanca and Goodbye, Mr. Chips. He lent his voice to Michael Caine in four films, Charles Dance in Gosford Park and others, Vincent Price in The Raven, Colin Fox in Deathlands, Derek Jacobi on Brother Cadfael, the narrator in Pan's Labyrinth, and over a dozen guest stars on Perry Mason. Cartoon credits include Julius Caesar in the Asterix animated features, Mr. Spock on the animated Star Trek, and Jack Smith on American Dad!
Rode was prolific in children's audio adaptations for the Europa record label, including Jules Verne, The Three Investigators, Masters of the Universe (Beast Man), and Flash Gordon. For Maritim, he starred as Sherlock Holmes from 2004 to 2018. He made on-camera appearances on the crime TV series Tatort, Hamburg Transit, and Direktion City, while films include Faust (with Uwe Friedrichsen, as the angel Gabriel) and Is Paris Burning? (with Anthony Perkins).
