Christoph Waltz (b. 1956) is an Austrian actor who spent years on stage and in German film and TV. He rose to international attention, however, as a two-time Academy Award (and BAFTA and Golden Globe) winner for Best Supporting Actor: first as brutal Col. Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds and then as Dr. King Schultz in Django Unchained (also by Tarantino).
In 2012, during pre-production of Muppets Most Wanted, Waltz was originally offered the principal role of the Interpol inspector, but declined due to schedule conflicts.[1] Although the part went to Ty Burrell, Waltz remained in talks with producers[2] and later found time to film a cameo in the final film, when the Muppets perform in Germany.
