Chuck is the stoat gang leader of the Riverbottom Gang and is the keyboard player of the Riverbottom Nightmare Band in the 1977 special Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas.
Chuck is an intimidating bully; he often growls that he's hungry to scare his friends into doing whatever he wants them to do.
The character's is referred to as "Chuck" in the original special; his full name has been used in the 2008 Goodspeed Opera House's stage adaptation.
On stage, the role of Chuck was spilt between a traditional hand-rod puppet and a live actor. Leo Daignault originated the role for the world premiere production.
Chuck Stoat later made a cameo in The Muppet Movie amongst the Muppets in The Rainbow Connection finale.
