"Cigarettes and Whiskey," also known as "Cigareets and Whuskey," was sung by Peter Sellers (as a Salvation Army preacher) and the Muppets in episode 219 of The Muppet Show.

The song condemns the dissipations brought on by alcohol, nicotine, and "wild, wild, women."

Muppets who joined Sellers included Dr. Julius Strangepork, George the Janitor, Bubba, Gramps, Slim Wilson, and a Whatnot Salvation Army band.

Notes[]

  • The spoken introductory text by Sellers comes from the 1948 single version by Red Ingle, whose records were often used on Sam and Friends. The B-side of the single was "Temptation," which Dr. Strangepork asks the band to sing instead.
