
Clark Gable (1901-1960) was an actor best known for his role as Rhett Butler in the 1939 film Gone with the Wind. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 1934 film It Happened One Night, and was nominated for two more for his performances in Mutiny on the Bounty (1935) and Gone with the Wind. Among his five marriages was to Carole Lombard from 1939 to her death in 1942.
